Help with food for the needy: Volunteer at Second Harvest Food Bank on Dartmouth Day of Service
Not only is it the 5th year of having a day dedicated to service by alumni, but it is also Dartmouth’s 250th anniversary! As part of that celebration, the College has launched an ambitious initiative, the Call to Serve, which aims to record 250,000 hours of community service performed by all members of the Dartmouth community. The Day of Service is the centerpiece of Alumni participation in this initiative, so help us show our local Dartmouth spirit by providing some of our great “helping hands” to one of the largest food banks in the U.S., the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.
IMPORTANT: IN ADDITION TO SIGNING UP ON THE DAASV WEBSITE, INDIVIDUAL REGISTRATION OF GROUP MEMBERS IS REQUIRED BY SECOND HARVEST
Young, strong backs are especially welcome, as food sorting usually involves quite a bit of lifting and bending. The dress code at the Food Bank is casual and comfortable. No shorts and no tank tops are permitted. Closed toe shoes and long pants are required.
