As part of Dartmouth’s 250th anniversary celebration, the College launched an ambitious initiative, the Call to Serve, which aims to record 250,000 hours of community service performed by all members of the Dartmouth community. As of the end of October, about 10,000 more hours are needed before the end of December. Also, it is that time of year to consider how fortunate we are, compared to many others. Help us show our local Dartmouth spirit by providing some of our great “helping hands” to one of the largest food banks in the U.S., the Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.
Food sorting usually involves quite a bit of lifting and bending, but there also are less physical tasks such as box making. The dress code at the Food Bank is casual and comfortable. No shorts and no tank tops are permitted. Closed toe shoes and long pants are required.
